| I can no longer drink Pilsner Urquell -- or rather I can but I don't enjoy it. I have devoloped an hypersensitively to diacetyl. When I was in Prague the fall of 2009 the "d" was there but was not objectionable. When I was last year it was really hard to finish one. The only place I even considered a second was Jelínkova Plzeňská Pivnice and there it was the smoke that did me in :) I talked to an American ex-pat and he said that once he spent an extened time back in the states and it took him a month to where he didn't notice it anymore. Sort of like Schlenkerla and the smoke, I guess  While I don't avoid the big breweries I'd really rather drink beers like Kout na Šumavě and Únětický (and many others I can't spell) |
