| I concur with the recommendations for the Kreuzberg, Hallerndorf Kellers combined with Roppelt and Witzgall. Its a lot of quality beer without a lot of travelling. It's got great "wow" factor as well so its a good place to take groups. There's a great little pocket of breweries East and North East of Bamberg as well. My suggestion would be Griess for the Keller and Krug for the pub and also great beer. The Griess pub is a bit boring but Krug is great traditional Franconia. the locals in geisfeld are also some of the most friendly I've found. I'm not a great fan of Sauer, Rossdorf, the keller may be OK but there are better (Kreuzberg, Griess). You can get to the Kreuzberg kellers via public transport but the bus will give you more flexibility. Also try to include Büttner, Untergreuth, I've never had beer in a farmyard before! Another one that's off the beaten track is Hönig, Tieffernellen, great little pub and the owner is very accommodating to beer tourists. I assume that you are doing Forchheim and Kellers on another day? |
