I've now read the results of the top retailers and, of course, I should add my congratulations to Gerhard for being the world's best bar in Bavaria (isn't there a contradiction there somewhere!).

By no means wishing to demean this award to Gerhard, but Iike the 'best beers' awards, there are some apparent inconsistencies or discrepancies in the awards - at least in the ones that I know something about. 

For example, the Marble Arch pub is rated the best brewpub in Greater Manchester.  However, as far as I know - and I stand to be corrected if wrong - Marble Arch no longer brew on the premises having moved to another bigger location some time ago.  It's also hard to understand why only one brewery in England merits inclusion for having a tap room - and why no awards for Scotland, Ireland or Wales? 

The Bayern awards also take a bit of believing: of all the fantastic locations in Frankem, only Abseits and Landbierparadies (bottle shop - off licence to British readers!) rate a mention.  It's hard to believe that there are no  locations in Franken that can match those listed.  Finally, how do you classify the Zoiglstub'n?  Are they brewpubs, brewer tap rooms or just bars? 

For sure, I won't be using these listings as any guide for future visits!
