Thanks Gerhard. It would be good if the ratings were published with kind of health warning included in your posting. I don't know if many people other than Rate-beerers actually take any notice of these awards, I suppose not thousands.

It is interesting about the Zoigl rating, which demonstrates how skewed the results are. Although Anton Heinl's wonderful (IMHO - I gave it 96 points!) establishment scored quite lowly, most of the reviewers really liked it and appreciated it for its true worth. So, one just hopes that people look beyond the obvious and seek out really interesting places, not just those that have a barful of taps selling a big range of beers.

As a general rule, I tend to avoid such places as, from my experience as a pub operator, it is extremely difficult to maintain a high quality when trying to manage too many draught beers (Biers vom Fass). In my former pub, I restricted myself to 3 or 4 cask ales, as turnover was not too high. We had also a few keg beers (ersatz lagers, cider and the like), which don't take any real real management apart from regular line and tap cleaning. I notice that Abseits normally has around 5 Biers vom Fass and I think that is probably about right.
