| I know from the limited relevance of these awards. Personally I look at Ratebeer beffore I will visit a new city, but I read also portals (p.e. beeradvocate and yelp and facebook) and beer blogs and maybe books. But the RateBeer awards and rankings are good for the public relations (in the view of the owners). Many foreign visitors visit the best reviewed places in a region / city. And they find also the places with a difficult-to-find location outside the touristic hotspots. The table shows only the best location. It's not a list of all good locations. P.e. the second best bar in Franconia (Hütt'n in Nürnberg) ist not part of the list. The winner takes it all... The zoigls have two disadvantages: - Many of the zoigls have less than 10 reviews. Ratebeer uses the number of reviews as a quality criteria. They show the results but excludes this places from the lists with the best places. And: If you have more reviews the total score gets better (the formula is not published. But they use the total count of reviews as a quality criteria. - Ratebeerians prefer a good selection (this is one criteria, others: food, ambiente, service and value). So the zoigls with only one or few beers are in a pour competitve situation.
