| Sorry that the recommended Paxbräu beers are so bad. The Smaragd Pilsner is his beer of the month August and I haven't tasted it. His "Cissy IPA" has been good in my opinion. The Ratebeer ratings have a big bandwith. http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/pax-brau-cissy-ipa-green-label/204530/ That the Mönchsambacher Weihnachtsbock has been "slightly oxidized" is surprising Probably You have got a bottle at the brewpub. I have tasted with the European Sticke Warriors in October 2013 vintages of the years 2008, 2010 and 2012, delivered from the brewery, cold storaged there, and all bocks have been tasted well. The best was the bock from the year 2008 (but without any sweetness of the fresh bock). I was surprised about this result, because these bocks are sold out before xmas and so not brewed for aging. And I know that Stefan Zehendner has tasted with a group of beersommeliers also a xmas bock from 2003 and it was good. |
