Beer already has CO2 in it, and its formation is further encouraged by conditioning, even for that method used by some (not all) of the brewers of some tiny obscure island nation just north of France. Adding extra CO2 for preservation and serving already has a long tradition. You might have a case if the "preservative" was formaldehyde. BTW, before a few hundred years ago, brewers really didn't use another well-known preservative: hops. Should they be removed as well?
