| Sure, understand about spam issue. I have already emailed Sparkasse Erlangen as the bank has English pages and presumeably have folks that can speak English. That's why I will open an account in Erlangen rather than Bamberg as I guess Erlangen is a little more international with the presence of global companies etc. For now I just need a girokonto account for paying in, withdrawing and direct debits. My concern is proof of address, but I believe that my Anmeldung certificate will be suffcient as poa. If not then I will be in a spot of bother, given that without a bank account one can't rent a house, enter into a mobile contract or pay bills. You also are unable to get a SCHUFA credit rating, so this again affects your ability to enter contracts, especially regarding renting property. |
