Ridiculously expensive Kellerbier |

A local craft beer bar here in Massachusetts USA has one of the best tap lists anywhere in New England. And they always have a few good German beers on the list so I check their tap list frequently. They also have a reputation for being very expensive, even by local standards (where you can't get a good pint of beer for less than $6). So the other day I noticed they had Gänstallar Kellerbier on tap. It has been 3 months since my visit to Franconia and I have been missing the beer so I decided to go get a half liter even if it would be way more than what I had been paying this summer (they don't list beer prices online). But when I arrived I couldn't believe my eyes. $12 for one beer. It was the most expensive beer on the list. I am embarrassed to admit that I did pay the $12. I was already there and it was cheaper than a flight to Germany and it was a very tasty beer (fortunately). Long story short, count your blessings if you get to drink cheap Franconian beer. It could be worse! |
