"I've come to the conclusion that beer drinking in Germany (even Bayern) is just a different thing from the UK (and Ireland, to some extent)." Beer drinking almost everywhere in the world is a different thing from the UK. Most notably, the vast majority of beer drinkers in the world either enjoy or do not mind CO2 added to their beer.
