Just barely outside of central Manchester (not far at all, not a long walk from Picadilly Station, very short walk from Oxford Road Station), there's a trio that will be mostly familiar (two of them) and maybe not so familar (one of them). The two would be Peverill of the Peak and the Briton's Protection. In spite of the big Tetley sign on the Briton's Protection, there almost always a cask Robbie's in the line-up there. The third venue, Rain Bar, is a JWLees showpiece, and as such, the range of Lees beer on will be in good shape. Just to whet your appetite: http://static.panoramio.com/photos/original/28625335.jpg http://www.flickr.com/photos/50191609@N00/4357533464#/photos/adambruderer/4357533464/lightbox/ http://v6.lscache6.c.bigcache.googleapis.com/static.panoramio.com/photos/original/2456473.jpg (This is out back, on a rare sunny day in Mancunium; it's across the street from the Peverill) I like 'em enough, even though it's been a few years since I spent time in Manchester. |
