| I read in the paper over the weekend that the prison behind Schlenkerla may well be vacated within 7 years, ahead of the previous tentative plan to move out within 15-20 years. The US Army facilities that will be vacated by this autumn will provide a location for a new prison. Just how concrete all this is may yet to be decided, IIRC. The university might move in to the site, which has been a prison since the 18th century. Also, there may be plans a-foot to improve the public WLAN/WiFi situation in this country, which is well behind other big European countries. Saw that on the TV news this morning, but I didn't hear the details, as I was busy making breakfast. The uncertain legal situation (who's responsible for users' illegal downloads) was cited as one of the reasons why things are so behind the times here. |
