I recommend their Sülze (aspic), Gerupfter and Bratwürste (sausages with sauerkraut). The mother bakes the bread. The Gerupfter is home-made. The sausages and the aspic are from a good butcher in Frensdorf. Gerupfter is a spreads, a mix of Camembert and frothy whipped butter, paprika (spice), pepper (spice) and salt. The blend can be different from pub to pub, maybe with a part of "Limburger", a cheese, that smells like feets. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limburger Originally it's a kind of waste prevention: using of overripe Camembert. http://www.genussregion.oberfranken.de/spezialitaeten/spezialitaeten_von_a_z/g/448/gerupfter/details_39.htm Other names in other regions: Obatzter, Obazda (Bavaria) or Angemachter. Caution: Since some years the Gerupfter is also available as a convenient product with much additives for a longer durability. |
