| Hello all, A friend and I have decided it’s time to take our beer excursions to the next level with a trip to Bamberg this year. We’ve been to a few places (mainly Belgium) including Munich and Berlin but never this particular region. Reading about it and from speaking to esteemed forum member Barry (via email) it sounds fantastic and we can’t wait! Due to family and work commitments we can only manage a 4 day trip and have pencilled in a date from Thurs 13th to Mon 17th September. A tentative plan is also being formulated which simply involves doing all the breweries and pubs in Bamberg with a day trip to Forchheim to do the keller hill. We live in Swindon and are looking to get a flight from Gatwick to either Munich or Nuremberg. We like the idea of staying in a brewery and it seems Spezial and Fassla are our only choices. Which is a shame because we’ve just heard back that Spezial is fully booked! Waiting to hear from Fassla… I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on the above. We’ve not booked anything yet so if there’s a reason we should avoid that weekend, maybe a particular airport is to be avoided or the following weekend has something on that would should go to, please let me know. I’m very confident this won’t be our last trip to the area but I’d really like to make this first one as memorable as possible. And maybe if any of you are around, we could meet up and share a beer (or several…)! Thanks in advance. Cheers, Darren. |
