Zoigl Kaufbeuren

Jason, if you search this forum, you'll find a report of an evening in Abseits where Gernot Wildung brought down a couple of barrels of his beer, which we supped away gratis.  We being J. & self, and Nick & Becky, with of course, Gerhard in attendance.  We weren't that impressed with his 'launch' beer, probably a bit early in its cycle but we were anxious to try the Zoigl and, of course, being a member of 'Save Echte Zoigl League', I was eager to engage him in conversation!

Actually, he is a really nice bloke, very chatty and enthusiastic.  He explained that, because he so loved the Zoigl tradition, he wanted to honour it with a beer of his own, so I rapidly forgave him - very generous of me!  I don't remember that it was anything particularly special but, then, the same might be said of Zoigl but, of course, that's not the point of Zoigl.

He gave me a lot of interesting information about brewing and he was very open to discussion.  I've always wanted to go to Kaufbeuren but it is a bit isolated, so haven't made it yet - one day!
