| Nick, do you know how the Reinheitsgebot fits with EU competition law? Or do the Germans just ignore the EU? Speaking from a UK perspective, 10 years ago, 'real ale' had a slightly stuffy image, being perceived as a middle aged man's drink. Now, as you say younger people are embracing 'craft'. The problem with this is that when the next fad comes along, are people going to be drinking these daft beers? I remember when Mexican beer with a slice of lime was all the rage. Meanwhile those of us who like 'proper' beer will carry on drinking it, hopefully in 'proper' pubs. |
