So whats your favorite brewery?

I pretty much agree -- I need to go back to and do lots of "field research." :) The problem with Fässla is they are right across the street from Spezial! I think their beers are fine, its just I'd rather drink Spezial. I like the beer at Griefenklau, but man, that is a hike! If the beer garden in the back is open it is worth it. But if I feel up to climing then I tend to head to the Spezial Keller on Stephansberg. (do you detect a pattern here? :) ) I think the Schlenkerla (and Spezial) weiss beers are only available in bottles (I could very well be wrong, though). I don't know about Schlenkerla, but at Spezial they make the wort at their brewery, but it is shipped out to another for fermentation and bottling. It is really difficult to brew a lager and a weizen in the same brewery (cross-contamination of yeast is the problem). My guess is Schlenkerla probably does the same. Oh, and ditto on Mahrs and Klosterbrau. I like the food at Keesmann and I got really plastered one night when their bock was being served. It must have been good because I drank a lot of it :) Have you ever heard anything positive from anybody about Kaiserdom? The locals I talked to all make fun of it, but somebody must buy it.
