| I fell in love with Franconian Beer while stationed with the military in Bamberg in the 80´s. I have lived in Germany (unfortunately not in Franconia)for the last six and one half years. I travel to Bamberg about once a month...,mainly for the beer. I have visited every brewery in Bamberg and many in the surrounding area. It is truly a beer lovers heaven! My favorite breweries and beers are as follows....(1.) Krug Brewery- Geisfeld,(Lager) (2.) Mahr Brewery-Bamberg(Keller Bier)(3.)St.Georgen Brewery-Buttenheim (Keller Bier)(4.) Wagner Brewery-Merkendorf (Lager) (5.) Schlenkela-Bamberg(Naturally its´Rauchbier) (6.)Keesman-Bamberg (Pils) (7.)Klöster Brewery-Bamberg (Brown Bier).There are so many other fantastic small breweries in the region it is unbelievable. It is truly hard to find a bad beer in the area. |
