Schlappenfest in Hof

Haven't heard of this one (I haven't been to Hof) but there is an excellent description of the fest and the history and the beer at http://www.schlappenbier.de -- the site has English pages as well. Every city and town seems to have it own festival. Many center around the founding of the town church. And the local brewery will often brew a special beer for the occasion. How many church festivals in the US have their own special beer? So if a Franconian friend invites you to his church festival -- by all means go, the probably have some great beer!
