There is no exact translation, as Klöße don't really exist outside of the Vaterland, I think. I did forego Klöße with my überfrisch Schäuferla at the Keller in Stiebarlimbach yesterday, as two great balls of gummy potato would've simply been too much, since I was going to bike fast uphill through the woods to Forchheim after eating, to take the train from there home. Mine was the first Schäuferla of the day, and just it and the Kraut (no gas, this time!) made me quite full: http://i31.tinypic.com/av613n.jpg Tip: swirl the crust around in the sauce so that the roasted-in herbs break loose and get soaked up by the meat. Roppelt's Kellerbier is in top form these days: hoppy! So, Jimbo, did you encounter any new breweries this trip--either new to you, or new to Franken in general? Just wonderin'. Anything new up "auf dem" Kreuzberg? |
