Goldenen Löwen, in Hallstadt

When we were in Bamberg last January, we took a walk out to Hallstadt (lovely walk), following the late John White's eulogy on the Goldenen Löwen. Unfortunately, the opub was shut (it was mid-afternoon) and looked a bit deserted. Does anyone know whether this place actually opens nowadays? We were going to walk to Dorfleins but decided it was a bit far, so went in the Adler Hallstadt. Nice beer but not the greatest experience, drinking alone in a massive hotel dining room! Did we miss anything by not going to Dorfleins?
