Cheaper, except

when you happen to be travelling to Bamberg alone from someplace like Erlangen, without bringing a bike along, and have a BahnCard 50--then it's more expensive, since the BahnCard ain't good anymore. But this is a rare case. I may give up my BC50 next year in favour of a 25'r, since I used to use it a fair amount between Bamberg and the VGN.
