Question for brewers

Slightly off topoc but I know from your contributions that there are a number of brewers on this forum - seemingly, big, small and between. I've brewed on a small scale in the past, first using kits and then buying ingredients separately. I've done in on a very ad-hoc kind of basis, essentially using kitchen utensils. However, in view of the lack of anything worth drinking in rural Ireland (apart from Duvel and Chimay from Tescos) and limited budget to keep flying to points various, I quite fancy setting up a little home brewing operation and would appreciate any ideas as to the best way. I've got plenty of space but a fairly limited opportunity to buy equipment, other than ready made stuff from a brew ship, which tends to be expensive (like everything in Ireland). So, any tips for the best way to set up? This is largely going to be for my own consumption and I'm not a gallon a night drinker! Thankis in anticipation.
