Tasting of belgian beers at Café Abseits, Bamberg

Hi Gerhard Let me say that I salute your enterprise because, although Bamberg has mighty fine beers, it's always nice to have a change - especially if the change is as good as the one that you are offering. Thanks for being so open with your figures - I can see that you have to have margin to stay in business and that it is difficult to compare operating costs between different areas of one town, never mind two countries. I think that you can justify your prices (which are essentially similar to those of Belgium), as you have high costs for transport, etc. but, it will be interesting to see whether people will be tempted to buy. Actually, my message was more questioning the margin between shop costs and pub costs in Belgium? Re the pouring: it's not really so tricky - I do it most nights with bottles of Duvel (a common but great beer), whilst watching the TV! I haven't really found the need to invest in any special equipment, just keep a reasonably steady hand. Incidentally, the staff at Bruges Beertje weren't so particularly careful the other week. I ended with one bottle that was more on the table than in the glass!
