I've biked it, there and back. Falkenberg is indeed lovely, but yeah, it's a bit of a hike. Our day trip to W'bach and Falkenberg was long, and in the end we missed the last N'berg to Erlangen train of the night due to a train cock-up (so we got a free taxi ride), but we managed it. Train from Erlangen-N'berg-Weiden, bike tour from Weiden-W'bach-Falkenberg-W'bach, with beer at the one place in Falkenberg (GOOD), Schmoicl (CRAP), dinner at the Hotel (OK), and beer at another famous Zoglhaus (OK). I'd characterise only the Falkenberger beer as worth seeking out--on this one experience anyway--over your average Frankenlager, but the communal Brauhaus experience thing is pretty cool. (Sorry if I'm a Zoiglbier Killjoy.) Here's a dopey aborted attempt at a "blog" I made a year or two ago to post photos of various beery things, with some nice photos of Falkenberg. I see now that I was practicing my Präteritum. Writing travelogues was great practice when I was just learning German though, but now I find it eye-bleedingly boring. http://erlangernick.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html ...
