Train times are not real important, unless you want to save time but spend some $ by using an ICE. I used the Bayern Ticket Single for E20 and the ticket machines can also print out itineraries for free. I think saving an hour each way would have cost E40 or so more and the Bayern ticket allows travel on buses. Best of all you can leave your plans open and stop wherever you like. One way I went via Bayreuth and Weiden, the other via Nuremberg. When I arrived in W'bach station I took a photo of the train schedule to review at my leisure as I was not sure when I would want to head home and where I wanted to get dinner. You can take a train from W'bach in either direction to get back to Bamberg (if that is where you are headed) and it's generally about three hours avoiding the ICE (as one must on the Bayern Ticket.) The trail I found is part of a trail network in some places [any links to maps and info on this trail network would be appreciated!] From the Zoigl outlets and church, head East on Rundscheifstrasse passing by the graveyard and climbing up to some ruins on your left. From here you can continue on East towards the tennis club, crossing the tracks. The view is nice but it does not lead anywhere. An excellent view of Neuhaus up on the hill but unless you swim the river you can't get there from here. At the ruins there is a steep path down towards a playground by the river (or a less steep path to the East.) You should also see a galvanized metal footbridge to your North. That's where you are headed. Make your way down to the river and cross over in time. Down there would be a great picnic spot. At the far side of the river there is an established bike route to the left (North) and a social trail to the right (South) that one would assume goes to Neuhaus and one would be right. Take the social trail and follow the river and a canal under the train tracks and eventually winding up the hill towards Neuhaus. You pass by some interesting ruins and though some peaceful woods. There are some side trails to explore at some ponds, I did not explore these but instead kept going towards Neuhaus, mostly East then curving South, joining back up with the marked bike trail. You emerge on a residential street which hits the main market right at Schoilmichl. That was handy for me. I was thirsty. You can see some of this on Google Maps, the bridge and the ponds particularly. Be aware that the map lines do not line up properly with the image if superimposed. It's a fun way to get between the Zoigl towns and a good way to sweat off some beer also. It is however a trail near water and could be dangerous if one is impaired or clumsy. It might also have some cycle traffic on it on weekends or in the summer so please bear that in mind. It's likely that the marked trail North from the bridge gets you to the same place but in a more roundabout and less scenic manner.
