I'm sure your correct but it sounds like Eschawa! As you might guess, I had real problems with the Oberpfalz accent, such as 'nein', which is pronounced something like 'na' and 'ich', which is something like 'i'. Renovation of the kommunbrauhaus? Not that I could see, perhaps there are some new roof joists but other than that, nothing special. Did you have anything in mind? Gunter told me that most of the machinery was decades old and it looks it. I believe that the brauhaus in Neuhaus has been renovated in recent years but I didn't get a chance to go inside. Don - sorry your visit was so short: totally agree about Wurth - we went in one weekday evening when most of the Zoigl stube were shut - it was absolutely souless: like sitting in a rather posh gents toilet. The lady who served us was about the only unfriendly person we met and, after one bottle of their version of Zoigl (from a bottle, ok, but nothing special), headed for the superb Loistl. I was a little disappointed with Wolfram - as you know, they don't use the kommunbrauhaus (I believe the result of a disagreement around 15 years ago). The beer was ok but lacked that 'hausgemacht' quality of the real stuff. Thanks Don S - I remember you suggesting a whole list of places that we could visit to while away 3 weeks. Well, we went nowhere except Weiden, where had Brau Wirt's dunkel and hell zoigl, which was very nice.
