Yes, Gerhard and I were discussing it. There are apparently several kinds of saibling, and "char" is only one possibility. I think another possibility is what we call "lake trout". In any event, I would love to try some. This past weekend I found smoked, salted herring in the store. They were from Canada and marked "wild". Unfortunately, when I got home and tasted them, they were too salty for me to eat (not to mention the bones were very annoying). I threw them away. :-( Poor Matjes Filets.
