I didn't intend to start the old discussion again, but I'll just sum up: Yes, I do know what CAMRA and real ale is about. And I do know that the camra taliban block the serving of foreign beers under top pressure at their festivals. And yes, I backed the motion brought up by Ian Bearpark some years ago at the CAMRA agm. IMHO there are a lot of fundamentalists within CAMRA who blindfoldedly follow the koran (beer dinkers companion) written by the prophet (Frank Baillie). Those fundamentalists are not open to any sensible discussion, so I've written that off. I do support CAMRA on their support for real ale, but I also think CAMRA should respect the dispensing methods for foreign beers. Do not forget that the use of CO2 top pressure is also already well over a century old, and it is a quality improvement for quite a lot of beers. And no - it's no use trying to convince me that foreign beers at camra festivals are served in tip-top condition, I've had too many bad examples. And beers in Franconia served on gravity/bayrische anstich that are suffering from oxidation are asking for voting with your feet. If a barrel on gravity/bayrische anstich lasts that long that it suffers from oxidation, the tenant does not know what he is doing (he should use smaller barrels instead for a start, or quit business).
