Dümpfel (different spelling) is an 18th century colloquialism for a deep point in a river, lake, or even a pond...in the north though, not down south in Franken. http://www.bierduempfl.de/ seems to have precious little to do with beer. I'd speculate that the term is Fränkisch for "Stempel(-karte)", or stamp/punch card. (Am I right?)
