I drive absolutely sober in Europe, but aside from that, the price isn't really a big deal to me personally. I willingly pay for a quality foodstuff product, whether it be for cooking or brewing. And the novelty of driving up to the Mälzerei to pick up my own sacks of malt has a quirky appeal for me anyway. And it smells so wonderful there... And I need an excuse to drive my car now and again, otherwise it might sit for weeks, which ain't good. (Alternatively, I could pack a sack in my bike wagon, which I may end up doing in winter months--just occurred to me!) A 30% rise in price is noteworthy though, ain't it? Same at other malt suppliers?
