OT - Miracle: half decent beer in Dublin
Posted by Barry on 2010-12-07 09:44:12
Just returned from Dublin and a quick visit to Porterhouse Central (Nassau St). Due to pressure from hosts, only had time to sample the Galway Hooker, which they describe as an IPA: Irish Pale Ale! Anyway, it was really nice, very hoppy and quite light - two pints went down very swiftly. About the nicest beer I've ever had in Ireland (even allowing for CO2 - sorry!). With my free travel pass (because of age), I could even contemplate going up for a few pints. Unfortunately involves a 3/4 hour car journey and then 4 hours on train (2 changes) and a tram ride! Will think about this in better weather. Just catching up on the bock correspondence and wish I was in B.
