| In May, Kellers are open during clement weather. I've been to the Kellers in April - still a bit cool-ish, but if it's sunny outside, quite worthwhile. In April 2007, I spent my 51st birthday in Miltenberg, back when there were still two breweries operating there (Kalt-Loch has since closed brewing oeprations and became a contract brewer), then went to Dinkelsbühl, and after that, up to Würgau and Aufsess. After that, the Rheinland and first visit to Lommerzheim in Köln, post-reopening and refurbishment, among other things. We got to sit outside far more often than we expected. The Spezial-Keller was open in Bamberg, and the sun was out; it wasn't warm, but with jackets on, we didn't mind at all, nor did plenty of other people at nearby tables. Mind you, May 2013 was just terrible for rain; epic downpours, flooding, all that and more. When it passed and the sun came back out, the beer gardens were full to bursting again! |
