Interesting article on german beer

And I'm just wondering out loud, not arguing, does the decline in German beer consumption really have a lot to do with lack of variety or is it other factors?  Has this decline also happened in the UK?  Seems to me like we're just more health concious in Western civilization these days and that might have more to do with it.
