B&J in Franken - final comment

I promised our recent landlord to say a few things about his fewo on the Forum (are you reading this Norbert?).

Well, the apartment is really excellent, not so big at 43 sq/m but so well equipped that we made a game of trying to think of something that was missing - we failed!  In addition, Norbert and Christine were great hosts, not intrusive but always available and helpful when needed.

As I've written in my previous postings, Drosendorf is quite a handy place - there is Goeller next door (very pleasant and friendly, with good food, fair beer and very reasonable prices but tends to close a bit early) and Merkendorf only a 2 km walk away (or a bus during weekdays).  The bus service to Bamberg is excellent, the only downside being that it stops not long after 7 pm (we didn't get to try the ALT, which runs on Fridays and Saturdays).  However, there are later buses that stop 2 or 3 kms from the village - a bit much for J. with her recovering hip but perfectly reasonable for those a little fitter.  It's also a great starting point for walking/biking trips to Franken Schweiz and we didn't find it too problematic to get around.  The 10T plus MobiCard at €89 was worth buying - I'm not whether we got up to €89 because I didn't bother to check but it was great just to be able to hop on and off buses and trains.  I'm sure a more dedicated traveller would easy get more than their money's worth.

All in all, a great holiday, though perhaps it would have been better to have started 2 weeks later and avoided a little chilly weather but, then, the 2 weeks before had been glorious so how would you know.

You can easily find Fewo Weidl Drosendorf on the net or if, you have any difficult, I can supply.
