A visit to the city of Cheb (German name: Eger) might be an idea. There used to be one small brewery there, but i cannot find any info now (other than dead links). The old town is very nice.
Train to Marktredwitz, train to Cheb. Vogtlandbahn runs every 2 hours M-Cheb, plus four fast trains Nuremberg - Marktredwitz - Cheb vv.
