New Long-distance Bus Service

If it SHOULD come to another strike, there is the possibility of using one of the new long-distance bus routes that have come on the scene in the last couple of years, since the Deutsche Bahn's monopoly on long-distance ground travel was broken by the courts (?). https://www.busliniensuche.de/busverbindungen/koeln/nuernberg/ is a search tool, which shows three different bus companies providing service between Köln & Nürnberg on the 25th, between 5 and 6 hours' travel time.

Not that this would be desirable in any way, but if, say, your train connection in Düsseldorf or Köln "falls out" due to strike, you could theoretically take the bus. From what I've seen, the RE trains have been running between Nürnberg & Bamberg without interruption during the strike, only the ICEs and some S-Bahns have been "falling out" of service.

Bits of reports of the new bus services I've seen on TV suggest people are fairly happy with them. But 6 hours would be a long time in a (coach) bus!
