Zoiglbier

Perhaps I'm conditioned differently drinking in the US for the last 10 years where seemingly any name for a beer has been corrupted. Saison no longer means anything here, IPA and all of its variants are now marketing words to signal to the customer what to expect.  "Pilsner" and "Lager" connote Miller Lite to the pedestrian drinker so brewers prefer this "India Pale Lager" nonsense... So to find inauthentic Zoiglbier is not so bothersome to me.  There are a lot of Oberpfalz breweries calling their beer Zoigl without it truly being Zoigl, and though not a style there are common appearance, aroma and flavor characteristics of true Zoiglbier, so to design a beer in the "Zoigl-style" is not such an absurd idea.  I admit I'm more perturbed when I find undrinkable "fake" Zoiglbier than delicious renditions like Ganstaler and Erlhof.  With Andy's Zoigl, it's so damn good, I excuse his misuse of the word.
