Franconian Beer Message Board
Some bad news |

Hey Jürgen, when you never drank Gunzendorfer beer, you haven´t missed much (in my opinion)... Beer (all sorts, also Rauchbier known as Gunzendorfer "Schlückla") was very dry and it was always difficult to swallow it down. Why the nice Keller just sell Hönig? Of course, no bad beer, but why not Meusel? Meusel is still a very unknown brewery because of their beer you can´t buy oder drink anywhere (expect you have a subscription and buy it from their trucks). Meusel further was the next brewery to the Senftenberger Keller and their Kellertrunk is one of the best beers in whole Franconia (but nobody know it...). I was sure the Keller had been a great new market for Meusel. Why no owner of beer pubs/Kellers tries for selling Meusel beers and above all the great Kellertrunk? Is it impossible to sell it on tap? I am sure this was a great business model. Herrnsdorf: Yes, owner Fritz was a very cool man. He wasn´t somebody with many words. But he was a honest and native brewer. I mourn because of the whole doom at Herrnsdorf and whish the Barnikel family that they can continue the pub. Here is a nice article about Barnikel and others http://www.stern.de/reise/ratgeber-wandern/heimattouren/oberfranken-wandern-wandern-von-einem-bier-zum-anderen-634732.html Interesting: The son of Barnikel worked as brewer at Sauer, Gunzendorf. So the circle closes... ;) |
