Thanks Andy, that's really interesting.  All the reports of Czech experience make me really fancy a visit.  Unfortunately, things rather on hold as we try to sell our house in a very difficult housing climate.  Off topic: don't believe what you read about an economic recovery in Ireland - yes, in the few miles around Dublin but, in rural Ireland, things the same as ever, with young people disappearing to UK, USA, Australia, anywhere really. Still, we hope!
