BJCP on Kellerbier |

Huh. They have "Pale Kellerbier" from around Munich, and "Amber Kellerbier" based on Märzen from Franconia. They cite St. Georgen Bräu *and* Löwenbräu from Buttenheim as "dry, spicy and pale", when of course St. G is nothing of the sort, being oddly brown and sweetish. And then there are "darker and maltier interpretations in the Fränkische Schweiz." If they simply consider any Franconian beer from the Fränkische Schweiz to be "Kellerbier", then I suppose this could be true. But what *Kellerbier* is there in the Fränkische Schweiz? Are they not almost all Vollbier or something *other* than Kellerbier? Meh, who cares, really? Anyone who does can read the style description. |
