As I probably used to go on and on about far too long for most to stomach, Kitzmann's Rotbier was quite distinct. A bit sweet-ish, which I guess you could say was their house character, but it was lower alcohol, around 4%, and had some tasty "red malt" character.

I recall reading about how historically, there was Weizen, normal Bier, and Rotbier. Any new recreations are just guesses at what Rotbier might have been like back then. are two e's for you: Nuernberg.
