Weihnachtsmarkt recommendations

I have been to Weihnachtsmärkte in Frankfurt, Bamberg, and Düsseldorf, and I have never seen beer served. It is usually cold outside, and hot beverages are preferred. However, at least in Bamberg, you are only a short walk from a good beer at the Weihnachtsmarkt.
