Jason, many thanks for this info! Now I want to do all you have described.

Also, I wonder if there is a place to rent bicycles and a proper cycle path to surrounding towns. If not, walking is still a good idea.

I shall consult further using G. maps. The bit about ending the walk at St. Georgen and Löwenbräu sounds particularly nice. Hope it stays dry.
