My admiration for British Brewing lies in their ability to create really tasty ales at a strength of around 4% or less. We just don't quite seem to be able or more likely willing to do that here in the US and perhaps there really isn't a market for it anyhow. Also the fact that we do very little cask here probably plays a role. I agree these "session IPA's" that have started coming out are not very good. People don't seem to be able to get over their hop addiction. A new homebrewer asked me recently "What would happen if i did a really low gravity beeer and put a ton of hops in it?". My reply was "You'll have a thin beer that tastes of nothing but hops." It's not complicated. |
