A couple of observations

Ach, so! I didn't realise that the entire mash was conducted in the kettle, and the other vessel is only used for lautering (and for post-boil!). I should've read this before I wrote my post below.......

Reminds me of reverse-Polish-notation calculators vs. calculators for the common folk.
