OT: Cheap ICE Fares & Oktoberfest |

| I THINK some have mentioned being able to find special deals on short-term ICE travel before. If so, and if you happen to be reading this now, could you offer a pointer? I'm quite probably off on a sudden trip tomorrow, and the ICE prices at short notice are, well, what they are at short notice. Saving a few €s here and there is always a nice thing, when possible. Indeed, I may be off to sample Oktoberfestbier in situ for the first time ever tomorrow. After having spent a dozen years living a couple of hours away from it, claiming I would never go on account of the crappiness of the beer, we've decided I should go and verify the utter crappiness. Also, if you were to pick one or two tents to drink in, what would they be? I'm thinking the Ochsenbräterei for Oxenmeat & Spaten, and then maybe the Hacker or Pschorr, as that beer is supposed to be the best (yes, I know, the locals and everyone else says Augustiner). Or...? But then back home by supper. And can one actually just go and get in one of the tents at noon without a reservation on a Tuesday? |
