Karfreitag & Karsamstag come from old German (of whatever sort, I can't recall) meaning "mourning Friday/Saturday", or maybe "mournful". It's the end of "Karwoche".

FWIW, it's not only illegal to dance during the 70 hours from Thursday night through Sunday 00:00, but there is also a list of films which are illegal to show, and it's even illegal to move house. In Bavaria, anyway. I don't think concerts are outlawed though. Be careful this weekend, Jason.
