| Weizen is not that popular in Franconia. Many "franconian" Weizenbeers are contract-brewed, for example  the Weizen of Löwenbräu Buttenheim is brewed by Schwanen Riedenburg. It is easy to understand, that  these really small breweries do not want to use both top- and bottom-fermenting yeast... The "czech" Fénix is also contract-brewed, in the Netherlands; it is likely a Witbier, not really a Hefeweizen of the german kind, because orange-peel is used. |
