| The spring bock has only 7% alc. vol in contrast to the Kathreinbock with 7.5%. But You know that such informations are imprinted at the same labels for all years. But I have tasted (so my impression), that he has a little bit more alcohol than they say on their website and labels. The first 150 literes I have ordered are KEGs with unfiltered Josefibock. But he is near to the filtered bottle version. During the long storage time the yeast fall to the bottom of the storage tank. I hope that the Huppendorfer Josefibock is on tap until end of March or maybe 5 April. Maybe I can get further KEGs (but then filtered), if the demand from other custormers is not too great. After the Huppendorfer Josefibock I will tap the "Bamberger Hofbräu Lager", brewed by the Braumanufaktur Weyermann. They have the ownership of this brand since many years and brewd this Lager the last year. It's an easy drinkable Lager; it's intended to demonstrate the quality of a special grain (Barke), a summer barley. The brewery Bamberger Hofbräu is closed sind 1977. The historic location has been near the Café Abseits (now: a great building of the AOK, one bus station from the Café Abseits in the Pödeldorfer Straße. They have brewed until 180.000 hl per year (the biggest brewery in the area). The name was an offer, a gift of a former bavarian prince (in the year 1900). The owner family has been Jewish. The son of the founder died after an attack of Nazis in the year 1938. A street (Willy-Lessing-Straße) remembers him. We tap this beer because until automn You can visit an exhibition about the jewish life in Bamberg. http://museum.bamberg.de/ausstellungen/ausstellungsdetail/news/juedisches-in-bamberg.html Part of this exhibition is the work of hop sellers in the so-called Haingebiet (Hain area), this is a part of Bamberg beetween the Schönleinslatz (near the pub Sterna) and the Bootshaus, p.e. Hainstraße. Many of the buildiings in this area have been houses of hop sellers until the first world war. |
